Duality is Unity

October 9th, 2022

Before the pain was always pleasure. And sometimes they mixed. That is how I realized Duality is Unity. There is no good or bad necessarily, but two different extreme experiences and expressions. To love one and hate the other creates roadblocks in the Divinity of Life. This is why I must forgive and focus on the positive lessons and wisdom gained in the early years of my life.

You will see me say “Duality is Unity” often. What does that mean?

The above journal expert is from a time in my life when I started to accept myself full-heartedly. Every strength and every flaw; every victory and every fall. I’ve always loved the concept of duality, but it wasn’t long ago that I truly saw it as a universal truth (at least to my present state of awareness). I noticed that everything in life is in constant motion. The one rule of life? Nothing stays the same. We are dualistic yet interconnected. We appear separate yet are One. And believe it or not, everything is exactly how it is supposed to be. There is much to explore in this article, I hope you find something that serves you.

All of us are natural-born creators. Look around you, it’s your life! You did it. Give yourself a round of applause. And the parts of your life that make you stop clapping … give them a standing ovation. There is no “good” or “bad”, there just is. We all have Feminine and Masculine energy within us - I want you think beyond gender/sex. Think : Yin/Yang, Lunar/Solar, Dragon/Tiger, Dark/Light (helpful image below).

One energy cannot exist without the other. How would we even define it? How would you know when you are happy if you’ve never felt pain? How would you know it was daytime if you’ve never seen the night? Often we are taught to be one way or another, i.e. Masculine vs. Feminine. Assertive vs Passive. Introvert vs Extrovert. But what if we removed the labels? What if we observe the existence of both opposing energies and accept that one is not “better” for you than the other.

It’s healthy to experience your life in its entirety. To deny any part of yourself is harmful. The acceptance and balance of these two “sides” of yourself/your life is where peace and harmony can be found. Internally and externally. The wisdom of Unity is gained when one loves the light as much as the dark. Oneness becomes the theme; deeply interconnected with Life. This is where you find a sense of calm - and in today’s world … that’s a rare feeling to experience.

Now - this is not to say that perfect balance is possible - but it is possible to achieve an equilibrium you are happy with. You will not find balance once and reach peace forever. Remember the one rule of life? Nothing stays the same. This journey takes accountability, acceptance, and awareness. Reflection, application, and practice. Plus the acknowledgment that there is always room for growth. We are never done learning.

If this is new information for you, take a deep breath. It can be a lot to think about and that’s okay.

I am only here to share. To share my experience and express what I’ve seen as helpful - To create a safe space to explore ideas and information. But if it doesn’t resonate, you never have to take it with you.

Let’s talk about self-compassion during this process. Below there is an image from PositivePsychology.com. This image can be used to decipher how we care for ourselves. This is a helpful tool to ensure balanced acts of self-compassion/care.

Example : You are overwhelmed and overworked. A “yin” self-compassion act would be running a bath. A “yang” self-compassion act would be speaking up about your workload and finding a solution. This comes from a beautiful exercise packet my therapist shared with me. Looking for shadow work? Click here.

Back to DUALITY IS UNITY … if you are still with me, let’s dive deeper. I give thanks that you made it this far. That’s love! 🌹

We are a Spirit having a Human experience. Our soul is eternal yet our bodies are born to cease. We live a dualistic life inherently. Birth and Death. But what about rebirth? Where does that come from? I believe it comes from the alchemy of our dualistic nature.

If we learn to accept “darker” aspects of life and alchemize them into light - a rebirth occurs. An ascension of sorts. AKA finding balance within our inherent Yin/Yang existence, and actively creating the reality that is most aligned with our Higher Self. Finding this balance creates new sparks of energy - waking up happy, sleeping well, feeling healthy, more creative, and a finding a smooth flow in life. A symphony. This symphony is a direct result of alchemy and balance. AKA Rebirth. Rebirth can be noticed by a new job, location, house, car, hair, etc. But it runs deeper than that. Rebirth does not have to be physical - it can be a mental, emotional, and/or spiritual, too.

When was your last rebirth? What did you alchemize/balance? What was created as a result?

There are infinite possibilities to who you can be - and there are endless ways people view who you are. You know what that means? Freedom. Freedom to live your life to the fullest and let go of the idea of perfection. Only YOUR Soul knows the way. Only YOU know who you are, who you were, and who you want to be. So why let anyone else tell you how it should be?

My favorite saying right now,

“Focus on the bless, Release the stress”

Stay grateful. Find balance. I love you.

I ACCEPT WHO I AM IN THIS PRESENT MOMENT | EVERYTHING I NEED IS ALREADY WITHIN ME

8-year-old me knew it’s all about balance, baby.
